Kids & Fish

Most kids like to fish at least for a little while. Thrilling excitement, concentration and fear all play across their faces as they feel the tug on the end of their line and realize that they are now connected to an unknown, unseen "something" down in the water.

This gentleman's congratulations became a bit much for his grand daughter and her snapper catch.

In the lower photo my nephew was proud of his first striped bass catch on the Sound. If I hadn't grabbed his pants I think he'd have gone over the rail when the striper hit the clam-belly bait. Upon returning home to Florida he told his dad that he wanted to live with his uncle Mark on Long Island :-)

Both pictures are good. It is too bad there wasn't another photographer with you. It would have been a great picture of you grabbing your nephew's pants to stop him from going over the rail!

Hey Mark, Neat pictures!!! My youngest son STILL loves to fish--and his son has picked up the hobby. They both LOVE it--even when they don't catch much!!!

That fish is nearly as big as he is! Great catch - in both senses of the word - and a great choice for Summer Stock too :).

What a big fish! You all are great fishermen. I love fishing but although we live in an island we rarely go on fishing because of the kids.

What a beautiful post. If I would have been around a big fish like that as a child, I must have become a fisherwoman.

Yes children are proud when they catch a fish. Last year I went fishing with my daughters' partners and my six- year old grandson. He caught 4 fish and was so proud!
Thanks for your visit!

Mark,
Thanks for visiting and Following. I've done the same. Love your pictures. And these kids are so cute. Yes, the visitors and kids are nice to have around, but I sometimes long for some very alone time.

Mark: When you catch them that big it can spoil a kid. Really nice catch and neat presentation below.

Your nephew is so sweet, proud of his catch but can't bear to touch it bare handed. It is such fun watching their faces light up at a bite!
