Mattituck Inlet 4 to 5 PM November 30, 2011

The four day Thanksgiving was over, our guests returned home. The day had been a cold windy one, brilliant sun then cloudy in a blue sky, very changeable throughout the day. As the early evening approached I felt I needed to see the sun as it set.  I drove to the east side of the Mattituck Inlet breakwater to the Sound and took a few shots then went around the inlet to the west side for some more.  There was "golden hour" light lasting for an instant then whisked away, turn and turn about as I recalled memories from this day two years ago.

Strawberry Festival

The last shot first for my Skywatch Friends

For more Skywatch Friday photos from around the globe click here.

Some friends and I went to the annual Strawberry Festival in Mattituck this past weekend.  The photos tell their own story.  Guess what?  Not one strawberry in any of them!  They have been fantastic for the last three weeks though, red straight through.  They have to be eaten within two days maximum, they are SO ripe.  I've been making Bisquick short cake for them substituting duck fat for half the butter quantity which is pretty good and adds some depth, but it's not even close to what Mom used to make... a light ethereal cake wedge, split in half, smothered with strawberries from our own garden, doused with a bit of milk and some sugar...  (I'd give anything... love you , Mom).

Might be the longest but it looked like they were using, maybe 6 feet (it was very early evening).

Absolute bubble Joy!  (click to enlarge, that's fun!)

Going Down

Vendors with almost everything...  glass rings here.  You need one, right?

The Dino-Coaster, not to be missed!

Bubbles can be enjoyed at any age...  I popped a few with my nose, messed up my glasses.

Images From or Near Love Lane, Mattituck

Love Lane In Mattituck was once it's main street.  It was the address for venerable shops though there have been changes of late.  A relatively new cheese shop has brought in many diverse varieties to sample, the Sweet Shoppe is loaded with so many different confections that it is dizzying.  A wonderful bakery is gone but now one can get a great breakfast in it's place.  Life goes on...  things change.
